Going Postal

Just finished up this design for my good friends in Flatfoot 56. The character is loosely based off a postal worker friend of theirs by the name of will. But no worries, I don't believe he is a gun wielding maniac. So you can carry on receiving your mail in piece. Anyway here's the design.

the Evil Tree pages

A couple years ago I started working with a writer from the Los Angeles area by the name of Erik Hendrix on a graphic novel. Long story short, trying to juggle time between investing in a graphic novel and trying to earn a living didn't work. So I had to back out of the project. Good news is he's found a new artist to take on the project with a planned release in 2012.

So, since they won't end up being used, I figured I'd share some of the pages here without dialogue, as to preserve Erik's story. And if the right person sees it, possibly get some paid comic work in the future.

Digital Artist Magazine- Issue 18

I feel honored as Digital Artist Magazine has published more of my videos in the accompanying DVD of this month's issue.

In other news, the wife and I have reorganized our studio and finally bought some simple track lighting to brighten up the place, which has been much needed. Speaking of the wife, if you haven't already checked out Caitlyn's awesome artwork go to www.CaitlynRooke.com and do so. Seriously, it's great. All the best to you.

Tony Norman Vs. - Issue 1

This was actually done last month, but I forgot to post it. It's for one of Pittsburgh Post-Gazette's Columnists, Tony Norman. He started a monthly forum discussion in February 2011, taking on local social and political representatives of the area in a friendly dialogue. I've had the honor of participating in creating the posters for the event, and we felt it would be a fun twist to depict him as a super hero out to save the 'burgh.

Threadless Plug

So as I was perusing threadless.com the other day I came across a video with Flafoot 56 in it. Apparently they have bands come in and play a show at their warehouse every now and again. Anyway, when they were talking about shirt designs and the like Flatfoot gave me a shout out as I've done a handful of designs for them in the past. Check out the video.

Digital Artist Magazine

I meant to post this earlier, but I was in February's issue of Digital Artist Magazine issue 16. They're based out of the UK, but they have US, Australian, and Taiwan distribution as well. They featured a couple of my digital painting videos on the DVD that accompanies the magazine. Here's a glimpse of what the DVD menu looks like.

I've never been much of a magazine man, but this one is actually pretty good for anyone interested in the digital arts. It has a ton of tutorials, free stock photos, and bunch of great work. You can pick up a copy of the issue at DigitalArtistDaily.com

Artist Highlight- Zebulon Love

I know I usually post my work here, but I figured I'd highlight one of my talented friends today, Zebulon Love. I figured I could post it here, well because I'm in the design! (left on the cover) Well that's enough narcissism for now, here's some awesome work by Zeb for a band that just signed to Eulogy Records, Through the Fire.

Check out more of Zebulon's work at these following links.

Monsters Vs. Robots

Here's some thumbnails from my current project at work that I'm excited about. They wanted some original characters of sorts for some novelty mens and juniors designs, so I threw these together. Enjoy!

INCEPTION comic cover

This illustration was done for a contest over at DeviantArt.com for their INCEPTION: The Big Under Graphic Comic Cover Art Contest. The whole piece took 6 and a half hours to complete, and I've compressed it to 10 minutes for your viewing pleasure.

This piece, as of yet, is not associated with INCEPTION the movie or it's comic. judging for the contest is still in progress.

Music by Hans Zimmer, composer of the INCEPTION soundtrack.
